Special Tuna Prize Winner ($7,500) - The Yamazaki Double-Weighted Branchline
The 2011 International Smart Gear Competition featured a Special Tuna Prize to provide incentive for entrants to address an issue of major concern to WWF, the bycatch associated with tuna fisheries around the world. The judges selected the Yamazaki Double-Weight Branchline as the winning entry for its simplicity in design, its effectiveness in trials, and its potential for adoption on a large scale by tuna fishing fleets.
